Tutoring Center visit

We visited a tutoring center that was outside Manisa.  This center helps middle school kids prepare for their high school entrance exams.  The kids that it serves are largely Bulgarian immigrants.  The center works to include the whole family in their services, helping adults adjust to Turkish culture and language and helping kids with their studies.  The center has done good work in reducing vandelism in the community and reducing issues of addiction that have had negative impacts on families and the community at large. There are 5 teachers and 160 students.

We met in this teachers lounge area.  After days and days of full schedules and late nights I wanted nothing more than to stretch out on one of these couches and take a nap.  Fortunately I got my wish later.  After they brought us tea, we had a break in our schedule and people just sat around visiting, so I took advantage of laying down and dozed for a short while.
