The Grand Bazaar!

After dropping luggage at the hotel we headed to the Grand Bazaar.  We are told the oldest indoor shopping area in the world.  It was HUGE.  David and I had plans to explore other parts of the city during the afternoon on our own, so we simply walked all the way down one long row of shops and back to the gate.  It was swarming with people and had a huge variety of different shops.  Very fun, but the press of people was a bit too much for me.  We bought (and bargained) for two items and then headed out.

Entrance to gate #5.  The bazaar is laid out as a 10 x 10 grid.

Arched vaults with windows and paintings in various stages of disrepair.
