Amsterdam's canals

We got to take a canal tour in the morning which was quite pleasant (it got kind of hot toward the end of the day).  The city has about 1700 bridges over is various canals, and about 3,000 houseboats that are moored along side of the canals.  The houseboats were once a cheaper way to live than in an apartment in the city, but now that the city is no longer issuing permits, they have become increasingly costly and coveted.  As we were riding along the canal, we got to see into the windows of several houseboats (one guy was ironing laundry, one lady was cooking breakfast).  There was quite a bit of variety between the different houses.

Delaney's favorite sight was a small opti (sail boat) crewed by a young boy (age 10?).  Just like the boats sailed by the kids at sailing camp on Cheney Lake at home.
