Free afternoon in Venice

Although my previous postings have showed beautiful sights and the main tourist attractions in the city, one of my favorite things to do is still just wander the streets and see what I see...

This afternoon the group headed in many different directions and I struck out on my own.  I had a multi-site pass good for several churches and I decided to head for the nearest one.  I headed down an alley from the main square and hit a dead end.  I turned around and headed another way.  I was hungry and was keeping my eyes open for something/somewhere to eat.  I came across a "carry out" pasta place.  Lots of character!  It had several signs taped to the overhead menu stating "no photos of the menu please".  I thought that was weird, then I realized one of their dishes was titled "Viagra".  Not sure if that was a reference to the pharmaseudical or is some Italian word, but I'm sure it was the reason that their menu was the target of photos.  I got some pasta and ate as I continued to wander. (There were no appropriate pic-nic spots around, with or without signs prohibiting them).
Alfredo with sweet peppers and eggplant to-go.

I went another way and eventually ended up in a square that I could find on my map.  I people-watched for a while, and realized that I had missed my church by a ways, but there were two more nearby.  I found both, they were closed.

Church #3 was a success.  Church #4 as well.
Santa Mara dei Miracoli

Square where San Giovanni e Paolo church is.

I was close to the main waterway around the islands and decided I'd take a quick hop over to the cemetary island nearby.
