Arrival in Venice

We arrived in Venice without a problem.  I immediately headed off to pick up our pre-ordered transit passes.  The lady at the 'Vaporetto' (bus-boat) ticket booth took my receipt, but then took over 30 mins to figure out how to authorize them and digitize our cards.  We finally got on our bus-boat and headed to Lido island and our hotel.  We made it to the hotel without taking the wrong boat and without taking a wrong turn.  (It helped that our hotel was on the Main Street off the pier).

The group split up for dinner, with some heading up the street toward the beach front and others grabbing dinner at street cafes and then walking on the beach.  The sand was really fine and soft. Delaney and I waded for a while after dark then headed back to the hotel for bed.

The hotel was quite nice.  No laundry, so some of us did some sink washing and hung things up to dry in the windows.  It was a very nice breeze blowing throughout the day and evening.  I'm sure the hotel was probably not delighted with our laundry hanging out the windows of the third floor, but I'm sure we were not the first to do this : )

The service by the hosts at the hotels has been excellent.  Eager to assist in whatever way possible.
