Learning Turkish

No trip abroad is complete for me without trying to learn some of the language.  The dinner at a host family's house was the perfect opportunity.  Here's my lessons so far:

Mehr ha ba = hello
MEM noon old dum = good to meet you
Sow (as in a pig) =  thanks
Loot fen = please
Choc Goo zel =  Very good - can be said to an attractive woman, or a good meal, or other excellent experiences.
Gur-ru-shoe-ruz = See you later
Gulay gulay = good bye (what the host says when you leave, not your response)

NAH - sil - son = how are you?
ee-eem =  I am well
toop =  I am strong and healthy like a turnip (I loved this explanation!)
Soo - pash = super!
SAH sil son = and how are you?
Ned-adeh ____ ?  where is the ____?

Chak = High 5!  I learned this with the toddler of the house.  It was so fun to say it and have him give high 5s!  I can speak Turkish to a one year old.

Veesh neh = cherry (juice)
Kay ee see = apricot  (juice = nektar)
Men a mem = an egg dish popular for breakfast
Chay = tea
kah veh = coffee (orta = with medium sugar)

Havanilani = airport
O-kool = school

Ann-eh (Ann-ee) = Mom
Bow-ba = Dad
Bay = Men (as in men's room)
Bayan = Women

A few pununciation tips:  s with a squiggle line under it is "sh", c with a squiggle is "ch".
i with a dot on top is "ee" and i without a dot on top is "euh".
Ch-uh-kush = exit.
