On the street

Sites on our first day were mainly around the Plaza de Mayo district.  Offices, some retail and restaurants, historic and govn't buildings.

At one point the street was blocked off with these large metal fences.  They seemed to be the remains of a previous blockage that were being removed.  I'm not sure if they were to keep people on the street only (protest march), or off the street or what, but they were heavy duty.

Buses along one of the main streets run in their own lanes in the center of the street with the bus stops in the middle median.  Pretty efficient.

You can't miss the number of the buses as they approach.  You can see the giant #5 on the front of this one.

You have to really watch where you are stepping.  There are holes in the sidewalk everywhere.  It makes it kind of challenging to look at shops and buildings around you and walk at the same time.

Eva Peron on the side of a building. Popular First Lady in the 1940s.

There have been a few fountains on the streets that I have seen, but many have been surrounded by traffic, or fenced in so they are not accessible.
