We were told that we must take in a Tango show while in Buenos Aires. We had lots of choices and opted for one that was just down the street from our hotel: Stravaganza! I wasn't quite sure what to expect other than impressive dancing. There was definitely that! There was a love story that wove together the various dance sets as well as some acrobatics (a la Cirque du Soleil) and some vocal solos. With my weak Spanish I understood about 1 in 20 words, which was not sufficient to understand the story in full. It was a love triangle that ended on a happy note - viva l'amour!
The costumes were very impressive and the giant heals the women danced in were amazing. Toward the end, one of the performers came out in the audience and asked people who they were with and whether they loved them. He came upon a couple that had been married for 50 years - very cool. Then he asked them if they could tango and they said yes. He asked if they would, and they came up on the stage. The live band struck up a tune and they took it away. So sweet.
