Food!

We've had some very good food to eat here so far.

For lunch I had a ham and cheese melt on a croissant and David had pizza.  (Melts seem to be a big deal, they even had a sandwich press machine at the breakfast buffet at the hotel).  At dinner David had a hamberguesa (hamberger) and I had an empanada (filled pastry with meat).

We had the breakfast buffet at the hotel and the croissants were wonderful!  By the time we were looking for lunch, we had passed bakery after bakery with fresh croissants and other yummy treats.  Croissants are a big deal.  It took me a bit to figure out the word in Spanish though...medialunas (half moons).  This will be my breakfast every morning till I go home I think!

Pizza seems to be quite popular here.  There are pizza shops on every corner.  We had one for lunch that was delicious!  It was a "hawaiian" style with ham and pineapple and a thick crust.
Napkin from the pizza restaurant...weird name, no?

The next day we tried another pizza place - supposedly the oldest in Buenos Aires: Guerrin since 1938.  The options on pizzas are various, but if you want meat, there is pretty much one choice: ham.  No salami, pepperoni, sausage.  The variety comes in the different cheeses that they add.  This one had roquefort and baby onions.  Delish!
