The obelisk was built in 1936 to commemorate the founding of the city.

Night time view. The district has promote large LED signs to give it a Times Square like feel. They have succeeded.
Notice the advertisement for Coke in the background. Very little Pepsi to be found here.
Congress Building. Very attractive, but with a park full of homeless people camped in front of it, its slightly disturbing too.
