We departed from DFW at 7:30 pm. David and I had the bulkhead behind us, so no one kicking or pulling on our seats. We were right over the wing. There is something about large planes that still awes me! We arrived in Buenos Aires after a 10 hour flight at 7:30 am in the middle of a torrential rain storm.
View out our plane window upon touch down. It didn't quite come out with the shadowy image of the wing in the near darkness.
We passed through passport control without a problem. They took each of our photos and thumbprints. The line moved along well. Then we went to claim our luggage and met with total chaos. There were 6 luggage carosels and at least 6 arriving int'l flights. There was a massive queue of people with their luggage waiting to go through customs. We joined the line and made it through after a 30 minute wait. It is the only place I've traveled where you have to xray your bags when LEAVING the airport!
This looks like you are entering security, but its really the customs screening of your luggage. They never took our customs forms that we meticulously completed (right down to include the make and model of our cell phones)
The aiport was pretty modern but crowded. I always think its interesting to see how many people shrink wrap their luggage. I don't know if they are afraid the luggage will come open, have something stolen from it, be damaged in transit, or what?
We joined a colleague of mine who had been on our flight and took a taxi into town. The cabs had cleverly backed up to an overhang, because there was no roof over the taxi stand, so the luggage could go into the trunk without getting wet. After a 30 min drive we made it to the hotel.
View out the taxi window in the rain. Lots of concrete apartment buildings on the way into the center of the city.
The tallest buildings downtown were in the clouds (later in the day the clouds lifted and you could see pretty well)
