Parisians

I always try not to prejudice our group against people in Paris.  Sometimes they live up to their reputation, and sometimes they surprise you by being helpful.  On this time the group has had pretty positive experiences and I've been surprised several times.  First by the person on the street when I arrived and was looking at my map, later by a lady in the laudrymat who helped decipher the machine instructions, also by the ticket taker at the Arc who told us about the student rate (rather than simply charging us all the adult rate).  Various other people that I have consulted with questions have been largely helpful and polite.  The most brusque have been the people in the metro station, but they have taken care of our needs too.

Laundry mat:  about 10 washers and 10 driers.  There was a central payment station that remotely started the machines.  We  tried to get our laundry dry in two 8 minute cycles, but ended up putting some of it on the line in the room afterwards.  It was fine for packing the next day.

Overall, not as friendly as London, but still helpful.  (Especially at not running down pedestrians who step out in crosswalks without warning).
