British Museum

Enjoyed the British Museum this afternoon.   Got the audio guide which was "new and improved" since the last time I was here.  Touch screen with images of the different objects you are viewing.  Delaney and I spent most of our time in the Egytian, Greek and Roman rooms and wandered through the Etruscan section as well.  She did not want to see the mummies though.

I really liked the money section.  This is a picture of Zimbabwean bills.  Theyy had such hyperinflation that their money became worthless in the end.  They tried to maintain the appearance of normalcy by keeping the same images on the new bills.  I doubt this was a very effective strategy.

Cash register made by Tiffany's, includes pounds, shillings and pence before the UK went metric with their money.  1  pound used to equal 20 shillings; and 1 shilling was equal to 12 pence.  So 1 pound was 240 pence.  The system went decimal in 1971.

Delaney really liked this sarcophogus of a wealthy lady.  The skelton was inside when they found it and this is a picture and a recreation of what her facial features might look like.   Its  pretty close to the scuptor's portrayal.
