Movies in the UK
David and I decided to finish the day with a late matinee (The Secret Lives of Pets). After 10 full minutes of advertisements, they got to the previews. Another 10 mins of previews and we finally got the movie. The ads were pretty interesting to watch from a social perspective. There was one for Barclay's bank that paints Brits and patriot and saavy shoppers - consumer cultural run rampant - and proud of it. (Would have fit well in the US too). Several pet food ads (because of the movie choice I"m sure). The funniest was one where a garage door is trying and trying to close, but keeps hitting and damaging a car parked in the driveway. Then is moves to a kid with a remote control car pushing a remote button again and again trying to get it to work. It was an ad for kids glasses! "Dad - the car is broken!" (double meaning of course).
