Archeological site

St. Pierre's cathedral is the third church built on the top of the hill in Geneva.  There is an extensive archelogical site underneath it that is open to the public.  It runs the full length of the existing church and beyond it into the square.  The archeological museum is impressive with mock ups of the previous buildings on the site, etc.
This burial site is one of the oldest on the site, dating back to pre-Roman times.

This is one of several baptismal fonts used by early Christians for full emersion baptisms.
The monks cells were heated by a central heat system that ran from a central fire through stone duct work to their individual cells.
The bishop had a large receiving room with a beautiful mosaic tiled floor.  Much of which is still in tact.
