Day 7 - Glenveagh Castle and National Park

We noted that in this remote part of the country, the traffic signs were ONLY in Irish (the others have so far been in Irish and English).
Overlook on our drive to the park.  There aren't a lot of designed scenic overlooks, so we were glad to take this small pullout and get some pictures without doing it as a drive-by from the passenger seat.
Errigal is the high peak that is greyish at the bottom of the photo.  The park and castle are along the shores of darker lake.

Furnishing the round rooms in the turret was interesting. This is the music room with a baby grand.
The Study
It was easy to tell that this had been lived in until relatively recently.  The place felt pretty comfortable and was not decorated quite like a museum.
Dining Room
The library

Master bedroom
We looked on the outside wall and no chimneys were evident, so the ventilation must have been inside the walls.
Guest bedroom
Flowers were interspersed with vegetables in this garden.  They were all planted so close together I think harvesting would have been a real challenge!
Head gardener's cottage at the top of the garden.

After Glenveagh we headed east to Derry/Londonderry and Northern Ireland
This was the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (UK).  Just a sign with a note that speeds are in mph not kph.  No booth, nothing.
And the signs became ONLY in English.
And all the flags along the city streets went from Pride flags to the union jack.
