Oslo - Day 2 - A visit to the Storting

We started off our second day at the Norweigan Parliament - the Storting.  It was just a two block walk from our hotel.  It's kind of postcard perfect.  A very pretty building inside and out.  It was built in 1866.

Front door to the building
The entrance hall was quite pretty.
We were greeted by one of the MP's and given a brief tour of the building.

Lego rendering of the building and grounds.

The Parliamentary chamber was directly above the main entrance.

There are 169 members of parliament and 9 political parties. It is a unicameral body.
Both the king and the Prime Minister must sign bills into law.
It's kind of a mixture of old and new with fancy red seats and electronic voting panels in front of each.

As we were filing out, we heard an electronic chiming sound.  The MP told us not to worry, it was not an alarm, but a notice that the session was convening in 7 mins and he really needed to be in his seat, so he hustled us back out to the main entry and dashed back to chambers.
