Visit with the Third Age group and unloading our supplies
We were up early the next morning to find the power on (briefly). We walked through town to the church where we had breakfast (lots of fresh guava, papaya, pineapple, local white cheese, ham and 'dinner rolls'). After breakfast we met with the 'Third Age' group at the church (senior citizens). They began with a brief health check for everyone, then we did introductions (tossing a ball of yarn to each other and weaving ties together), and began building our "Bridge of Friendship" - Sharing our hopes for the future. We sang and prayed together, then shared lunch. After lunch, both our group and the San Antonio group unloaded our 10+ bags of pharmaceudicals and craft supplies. It was startling to see how much we had managed to bring in. Additionally, we were able to present our cash gift to the church for their purchase of solar panels so they would have more reliable power for their food ministry and everything else. The pastor had already done all the research into what was needed and scheduled the purchase and installation that afternoon. We are hoping that by our visit in February that they will be in place!
