We ended our first full day with a practice for worship on Sunday. We had been asked to share a song in the service with them, and they had a song with symbolic movements they wanted to do together with us. We decided on This Little Light of Mine because Darcy and I had heard the children sing it in the past and knew it was a shared song that we had. Pastor Kevin started verbally sharing guitar chords with the musicians for the song and within moments they put an extra guitar in his hands and he was playing along with them. It was fun to watch. I didn't understand all the lyrics for the song we did together, but it was about friendship and building our faith together. We were each paired with a member of their congregation and joined in choreographed actions. It was not quite clear who was in charge and there were lots of energetic discussions between several members about it. We just laughed and followed their lead. When practice was over, we spent a short time walking around the center of town, just seeing what there was to see. We shared dinner together again, learning more about their different ministries in the church, and retired to our hostess' house (where the power was out).
Their musicians were very quick to pick up the tune

I'm fascinated by architecture, so I enjoyed looking at the old (colonial?) buildings. Although they were run down, you could imagine what they looked like in their glory days.

There are small spots of beauty everywhere, if you just look.

So much pretty grill work.
My favorite moment of the afternoon was discovering that the "ice cream truck" song that I could clearly hear nearby was actually an ice cream bike (in the center) with a cooler on the back of it and a loud sound system. Ha ha!
Cute artistic display in the back garden of the church
Making friends with Mariposa, the church dog.
